ABOUT US

POSITIONED TO BECOME THE LARGEST, LOWEST COST, AND LOWEST CARBON-FOOTPRINT PRODUCER OF TWO CRITICAL MINERALS.

Sovereign Metals Limited is focused on developing its Kasiya Rutile-Graphite Project in Malawi to become a leading global supplier to the titanium and graphite industries. Kasiya is the world’s largest natural rutile deposit – the purest, highest-grade naturally occurring titanium feedstock – and the world’s second-largest flake graphite deposit – a battery mineral essential for the Energy Transition.

OUR PRODUCTS

RUTILE

Rutile is the purest, highest-grade form of titanium feedstock found in nature. Titanium’s uses include pigment, welding, aerospace, defence, medical applications, and consumer goods. Sovereign’s Kasiya Project is the world’s largest known rutile deposit, and the first rutile-dominant deposit discovered in over 70 years.

GRAPHITE

Graphite is essential for the energy transition as a key component of a lithium-ion battery. China currently dominates supply of graphite for battery anodes. Sovereign’s Kasiya Project is the world’s second largest known flake graphite deposit with graphite amenable to use in batteries.

SUSTAINABILITY

The company’s objective is to develop a large-scale, long-life, environmentally responsible, sustainable, and socially uplifting critical minerals operation in Malawi.

A prefeasibility study released in September 2023 has confirmed that Kasiya has the potential to be one of the world’s largest and lowest cost producers of natural rutile and natural graphite with a carbon footprint substantially lower than current alternatives delivering significant volumes of natural rutile and graphite and generating exceptional economic returns while making an important contribution to the social and economic development of Malawi.
